Hey, I’m Quincy van Arneman Zimmerman (QVAZ), born and raised on the beautiful island of Curaçao. Creativity has always been a part of my life—ever since I was a kid, I’ve loved sketching and painting, just going with the flow. When I moved to the Netherlands in 2014 to study architectural engineering, I found myself spending more time painting on the side, mostly for fun. I started gifting my artwork to friends and family, which felt amazing because I love giving people something I made—something that’s essentially a part of me—and comes straight from the heart.
For me, art is all about letting go and seeing where my emotions take me. I usually don’t overthink it—each piece just kind of happens naturally. I’m all about bold, vibrant colors and acrylic paint, mainly because it dries fast, and I’m a “let’s-get-this-done-in-one-go” type of artist. I’ve noticed that if I leave a piece unfinished and come back to it later, I lose the flow, feeling, and inspiration I had when I started. So, I try to capture that creativity as much as possible before it slips away. My process is super spontaneous, and I love how it keeps things exciting.
I’m always up for trying something new—different techniques, materials, or anything that sparks my curiosity. Whether I’m diving into digital and analog artwork, crafting unique jewelry through silversmithing, or designing spaces with architectural visualization, my work is all about blending curiosity and creativity. Life’s unpredictable, and I like my art to reflect that—it’s unique, full of energy, and open to interpretation.
At the end of the day, I hope my work inspires people to trust their instincts and embrace the unexpected. Painting helps me explore my own thoughts, and I want to spark that same sense of curiosity in others.
Who knows what you might discover when you let yourself create without limits?
